Pemba graduated from San Francisco State University with an undergraduate degree in Child Development Family Relations in 1981 with expectations of becoming a family therapist. Of course, life provides detours, and mine included five unique offspring, single parenthood, and services to many through other pathways.
In 2017, Pemba was accepted to the Dominican University School of Social Work graduate program. Her internships at Arab American Family Service and Rainbow Hospice and Palliative Care Bereavement Department, along with her Community Participatory Research Project in Entebbe, Uganda, partnered with Health Nest Uganda and village elder leaders, were all critical in expanding Pemba’s understanding of global social justice and an advocate for equal behavioral health throughout the lifespan.
Upon graduating with her MSW and Gerontology certificate in 2019, Pemba applied for her residency with AAMH and began her training under Jeanne Clark, LCSW, DSW. Pemba has opened her practice, Present Moment Journeys, in the East Rogers Park Neighborhood and serves clients in person and due to the pandemic, telehealth platform, Doxy.me.com.
While living in San Antonio, Tx, Pemba was fortunate to receive life-changing hypnoanalysis with Don Hardy-Holley, MA, LPC, LMFT, NCC, and was thoroughly persuaded that Hypnoanalysis is the treatment of choice for those ready to resolve past trauma, making room for the present. Pemba indeed looks forward to answering any questions you might have about the Hypnoanalysis protocol and therapeutic process.
Her practice name of Present Moment Journeys accurately describes Pemba’s life philosophy and her approach to the healing goals for each of us.
